Tom has built a career defined by grit, growth, and service. For nearly a decade, he’s served with the Madison Heights Fire Department, recently earning his promotion to Lieutenant. In that role, he’s learning what it means to shift from being the doer on the line to the officer leading the crew. Along the way, he’s made mentoring probies a priority, pushing them forward the same way his officers once pushed him.

Tom’s passion doesn’t stop with teaching—he’s a strong believer in aggressive interior attack and aggressive search, and he’s committed to developing the next generation of officers who will carry the fire service forward. Off duty, he finds balance in time with his wife and two daughters, life on 12 acres of land, and stepping away from the firehouse when he needs to reset.

Dennis Carradin

Dennis Carradin started in the fire service at sixteen and built a career around one mission. Take care of the people who take care of everyone else. He served as a firefighter and EMT before earning his degrees in psychology and counseling, turning his front-line experience into a calling that reaches across the country.

As the Founder and CEO of The Trauma Survivors Foundation, Dennis leads a national effort that provides crisis response, therapy, peer support, and training to first responders and survivors of tragedy. His Critical Incident Response Strategies program has trained more than 4,000 professionals, and his work has supported over 100,000 survivors.

Dennis bridges two worlds. He understands the culture of the fire service and the expectations that come with the job, and he pairs that with deep clinical expertise. This gives him the credibility to speak on tough topics like PTSD, accountability, culture change, and mentorship without sugarcoating anything. He doesn’t believe struggle equals weakness. He believes leadership grows when we stop ducking the hard conversations and start owning them.

Outside the foundation, Dennis is a dedicated father and part owner of Bellefonte Brewing in Delaware, where he helped create Beyond the Call Pilsner, a beer that gives back to the foundation’s mission. He speaks across the country, challenging leaders to serve with purpose, build stronger teams, and leave the fire service better than they found it.

Dennis Carradin is proof that the work doesn’t end when the gear comes off. Real leadership begins on the other side of the tape.
