Roger is a rising leader in Northern New Hampshire’s emergency medical services scene. He’s a young officer with a rapidly growing ambulance service and brings fresh energy and perspective to the world of EMS leadership—despite having only been in a leadership role for about 18 months, he’s already making a name for himself.
EMS is in his blood—literally. As a second-generation provider, he got his start as a fire explorer with Gorham Fire, initially thinking he’d pursue firefighting. But along the way, he discovered his true calling as an EMT, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Outside the uniform, he’s got a life full of passion and purpose. He’s a devoted train enthusiast who can talk locomotives all day, and in the winter, he runs a snow plowing business—because even in the off-season, he’s always on the move. But above all else, he’s a proud dad, soaking up every moment with his 9-month-old son.

Chad is a third-generation firefighter with 19 years in both career and volunteer fire service. He got his start in the suburbs of Buffalo, drawn in by the social side of the job—until training lit the fire that’s fueled him ever since.

He began his career in the Myrtle Beach area in 2014 and now serves as a Captain with the North Charleston Fire Department, one of South Carolina’s busiest cities. Despite the full-time role, Chad still volunteers with Horry County Fire Rescue, staying grounded in service.

He’s a lead instructor for both the Charleston County Recruit School and the South Carolina Fire Academy, known for keeping it real, holding the line, and developing firefighters who can think and perform under pressure. As a proud member of Charleston Metro FOOLS, Chad surrounds himself with like-minded firemen who still care deeply about the craft.

Off the job, Chad and his wife run a hobby farm—raising animals, working the land, and embracing a lifestyle that keeps him grounded. Whether he’s feeding livestock or cracking a cold beer after a long day, the farm gives him a sense of peace the firehouse can’t. It’s his reset button, and a big part of what keeps him balanced and ready for the next call.

Whether he’s on the fire ground or in the classroom, Chad leads with passion, humility, and a clear message: do the job right, build each other up, and stay aggressive.

Roderick is a retired D.C. Fire/EMS Technician with 28 years of service to the community he was born and raised in. His fire service journey began with a random phone call from his sister and turned into a career full of grit, growth, and gratitude. He started in the trenches at one of the city’s busiest houses—Engine 27—and closed out his career behind the wheel of Truck 5, a slower-paced assignment that gave him the space to reflect, mentor, and appreciate the full arc of his time on the job.

Known for his steady leadership style, Roderick led by example: showing up prepared, mastering his craft, and being the kind of teammate you could count on when it mattered. He didn’t chase rank—he built trust. He guided his crew not with loud words but with quiet consistency and technical excellence.

Today, Roderick continues to serve in a different capacity. He’s the author of Fire, Faith, and Fury, a book that dives deep into the emotional and spiritual journey of a life in the fire service. He’s also the founder and operator of Success By Fire, a platform dedicated to building better leaders through trust, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Outside the job, Roderick is a husband, father, PopPop, and a man grounded by nature. Road cycling, mountain biking, and swimming keep his mind clear and his spirit sharp. He’s a firm believer in talk therapy, rest, and the power of having passions beyond the job.

His biggest leadership lesson? Balancing assertiveness with compassion and facing his own uncertainties head-on. If he could give one piece of advice to the next generation, it’s this: Keep studying—even after probation. Growth doesn’t stop when the evaluations do.

Roderick is passionate about mentoring, servant leadership, and helping others rise through challenges. And while he may keep his own mentor’s name private, the impact lives on in every story, lesson, and life he now helps shape.

Spencer Tuftee

Spencer Tuftee. brings 15 years of fire service experience to the table, currently serving as Chief of Charles City Volunteer Fire & EMS and as a firefighter/EMT with an airport rescue fire department. With boots-on-the-ground experience on both the volunteer and career sides, he’s committed to bridging the gap between the two and leading with a mission-first, people-always mindset.

His fire service journey started in a now-defunct rescue squad and gained serious momentum in 2012, when a boating accident left him injured by a flare. The ambulance ride that followed—and the conversation he had with the medics while still fully alert—set the course for the rest of his life.

Spencer holds a long list of credentials, including Firefighter I & II, EMT-B, ARFF, EVOC 1-2-3-5, Instructor I, Officer I, and is nearly finished with his Fire Science Technology degree. But his real passion lies in mentoring the next generation, championing mental health, and challenging the outdated mindset that career and volunteer firefighters don’t belong in the same room.

Off duty, Spencer keeps busy with amateur radio, emergency communications, wrenching on vehicles, repairing emergency lights, and helping run his family’s kettle corn business. But the real foundation of his life and leadership is his wife—his partner in every sense of the word.

They met in 2012 on a call at the county line, where their two departments had been dispatched. A year later, Spencer found himself at her parents’ house for a gas leak call—not knowing that years down the road, that moment would mark the beginning of a lifelong partnership. She moved in as a roommate, and over time, the bond grew. They got engaged in 2019 and were married on July 18, 2020—right at their current firehouse, in the middle of COVID.

Shauni is a Registered Medical Assistant, an EMT, and a Fire Lieutenant who brings compassion to every patient and strength to every call. Her path into the fire service began at 17, when she watched her aunt’s house burn down. That moment sparked a calling, and on her 18th birthday, she turned that calling into a commitment. Since then, she’s earned her Firefighter I and II certifications, graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration and Fire Investigation, and built a reputation for service and leadership. Beyond the badge and scrubs, she’s a proud wife, stepmom, Irish dancer, and someone deeply passionate about making the fire service stronger for the next generation.

Her twin sister, Sierra, brings her own fire to the table. A nurse since 2020, an EMT, a Firefighter, and a mom, Sierra blends toughness with authenticity. Her journey into the fire service started through playful competitions with her sister, but quickly became a mission of its own. She helped open a Women’s Health clinic and trained the staff, proving that leadership is not about titles but about responsibility. She is outspoken on the issues many shy away from — addiction, suicide prevention, PTSD — and she faces the hardest days with grit, humor, and the unwavering love of her kids, who proudly tell anyone who will listen, “My mom helps people — and I want to be like her.”

Together, Shauni and Sierra are proof that tragedy can either crush you or forge you into something stronger. They don’t just wear uniforms or hold titles — they embody resilience, compassion, and the courage to turn unimaginable loss into a drive to help others.
